Scale Setup Guide

Please have these ready before setting up your scale:

a. Your email registered with Bottomless

b. Wi-Fi name and password

c. Micro-USB cable (included in the scale box)

Note: Scales typically arrive with a 25% battery charge. We recommend charging your scale for a few hours upon receiving it. A full charge will last about 12 months.

Instructions

  1. Press the left "setup" button to broadcast the scale's WiFi network (you should see a green light on the scale).
    *Press the right button for larger beta scales (pets & health/fitness subscriptions).

  2. Place the scale on a flat surface, with nothing on top.
    *Optional: place your empty container on the scale.

  3. On your device (phone, tablet, or computer), go to the WiFi settings and connect to the "Bottomless_Scale" network.
    *If you are on iOS15, you may have to navigate to captive.apple.com after connecting to the Bottomless scale.

  4. Follow the instructions on the pop-up that appears.

  5. Check your email (or phone) for the scale assignment link. Click the link to confirm the successful setup.

  6. Store your product on the scale.

Troubleshooting

Trouble with Step 1:

  • I don't see a green light when I press the "setup" button

Your scale might need to be recharged. If you don't see the scale light up after recharging it for a few hours, contact us for a free replacement.

Trouble with Step 3:

  • I don't see "Bottomless_Scale" when I look at the WiFi options on my device

When you press the setup button, check for a green light on your scale. This signals that the Bottomless_Scale WiFi network is broadcasting. If you don't see the light, please contact us.

If you see the light, look for the WiFi network on a different device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.).

  • I can't connect to "Bottomless_Scale"

If you see an "error connecting" message, try using a different device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.).

If the error persists, please contact us.

  • I don't get a pop-up after connecting to the scale. What do I do?

If you use an Android device, please navigate to: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 on your browser. If you are on iOS15, go to captive.apple.com

Alternatively, please try using a different device. Let us know if you've still got no luck.

Trouble with Step 4:

  • My home Wi-Fi network doesn't appear on the list.

The scale is not compatible with 5GHz networks.

If you have dual-band WiFi, we recommend disabling the 5GHz frequency while setting up the scale or giving a different name to the 2.4GHz network. If you cannot separate the two, try moving the scale away from your router during the setup.

  • My WiFi network is hidden - can I connect my scale?

To connect the scale to a hidden network, temporarily unhide the network while setting up the scale. After the setup, feel free to hide it again.

  • I want to connect my scale to a new network but only see the "Set New Zero Level" option.

If you previously tried to connect your scale to another WiFi network, temporarily disable that network or move the scale away from its range, then sync to the new network.

Some customers have luck taking their scale on a walk and connecting to their phone's mobile hotspot (you would need two separate devices for this - one for the mobile hotspot, and the other device will be used to follow the steps in this guide).

Trouble with Step 5:

  • I didn't receive an email after syncing.

Please try syncing the scale again. When prompted for your email, make sure to enter the email address you used to sign up for your Bottomless account.

You can also restart your router and go through the setup steps again.

If that doesn't fix the problem, try creating a guest network on your WiFi. This can help bypass security restrictions on your main network that may affect your scale's connection.

  • The light turned off! Is that normal?

Yes, this means that the sync process is complete.
